On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Young as Interim Director of MAP Strategic Workforce Services (MAPSWS) effective September 2019. Melissa will occupy this position for a period of one (1) year during the absense of Hélène Savoie-Louis.

Melissa has had an impressive career as an industry leader and adult educator within the skilled trades. She received a degree in Adult Education from the University of New Brunswick, and has since held several leadership positions in different industries. Melissa was the inaugural Executive Director of a labour management and training organization for 12 years; she then moved into a role with the government of New Brunswick as Liaison Officer with the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Branch.

During her 8.5-year tenure with the provincial government she worked for 2.5 years in a secondment position as the Regional Coordinator for Atlantic Apprenticeship Harmonization; an initiative of the Council of Atlantic Premiers. She has also served as Assistant Director in the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification branch of the Government of New Brunswick as well as a member of the Board of the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum and is currently the Executive Director of the National Electrical Trade Council (NETCO).

We have many exciting projects ahead as MAPSWS moves into its next chapter with a new intermin director. I would ask for your continued support. Please join me in welcoming Melissa to the MAPSWS team!
